Man Down / Fall detector Module
Man Down module is a real-time emergency assistance feature. This module is designed to enhance safety in the workplace. This module automatically initiates an emergency sequence when it detects a fall, emitting a high-pitched alarm and sending precise location data to the real-time Digital Twin application. This ensures that medical assistance can be dispatched quickly and efficiently to the exact location of the incident.
This step-by-step guide will provide a detailed overview of the Man Down application, including its functionalities and troubleshooting procedures.
Before delving into the Man Down module, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the foundational information regarding the application's operation, as outlined in our documentation: RTLS - Real-Time Location System. Once you have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the RTLS (Real-Time Location System) application, configuring the Man Down module will become a straightforward task
RTLS module is a prerequisite for the Man Down module because it is essential to know the position of the injured person to provide prompt assistance.
Accidental emergency/Not an emergency
In case of fall, the fall detector will be activated and you will hear a high pitch sound. On the screen of the device there will be shown 10 second countdown, which signalize that something happened. You will see this screen:
If the alarm is activated by mistake, you can quickly disarm it by pressing the "I'M OKAY" button. The alarm will be turned off within a few seconds. Following this action, the screen of your device will display a confirmation that the alarm has been disarmed, reassuring you and others that no emergency is present.
After a few seconds it will return to the main screen of the application.
Real emergency/I need a help
In the event of an incident that requires assistance, there are two main ways supervisors can be quickly alerted to your situation:
Automated Notification: This method involves the application autonomously detecting a fall and immediately sending a notification to designated supervisors. These supervisors can then pinpoint your exact location in real time using the Real-Time Location System (RTLS).
Manual Activation: This approach can be used if the fall detection does not automatically trigger an alert.
The subsequent sections will delve into each scenario in detail, offering step-by-step instructions and accompanying screenshots to guide you through the processes.
Automated process:
In the event of a fall, the sensors in your device detect the sudden drop or rapid, unusual movement. This detection initiates an audible alarm sequence, which is also accompanied by a visual alert displayed on your device screen. The following illustration provides a clear view of what to expect on your screen when such an incident occurs:
The alarm sound is loud to quickly alert colleagues nearby. After a 10-second delay, the system automatically initiates an emergency call to the Digital Twin application, allowing supervisors to see your precise location and need for assistance. This process is fully automated, requiring no manual action. As help is dispatched, your device updates its status to show that assistance is on the way.
Calling help manually:
If a fall occurs and your device fails to detect it automatically—thus not triggering the alarm sequence—you can still quickly summon help. To initiate an emergency alert manually, simply PRESS AND HOLD the 'VOLUME DOWN' button on your device. This action will activate the emergency assistance screen and trigger the audible alarm, as shown in previous illustrations. This ensures that you can still alert supervisors and receive the necessary assistance promptly.
When an emergency alert is triggered, you'll see two options: 'I NEED HELP' and 'I'M OKAY.' If the alert was accidental and you are safe, select 'I'M OKAY.' If you are injured and need assistance, click 'I NEED HELP' to signal for help, which will update the display to show that assistance is on its way. Stay calm, as help is being dispatched.
If you choose not to select either button, a 10-second countdown will begin, after which the emergency sequence will automatically alert your supervisors. The display during this countdown will look as follows:
