Since BIM models are often not designed for our workflow neither to run on mobile devices, we wanna share some information for you on how to prepare them and what limitations are.

For Automatic Twinzo platform

Visualizing BIM models

(Currently not supported through automatic Twinzo platform. In order to solve this issue please contact us individually)

Outside Automatic Twinzo platform

(We are able to process BIM models, but they are often not designed for our workflow neither to run on mobile devices. So keep in mind that there is high chance that it takes multiple working days to process that. However this highly depends on BIM complexity)

Visualizing BIM models

If you want to visualize BIM model you can do that by sending to us 3D model in IFC format.

Currently we support most common IFC schema versions: IFC2x3, IFC4 (up to 4x2)

However we strongly recommend to use only IFC4 or newer (up to 4x2). Anything older will be converted but we cannot guaranty that results will be perfect

Since BIM models are big and resource heavy on mobile devices, we have some limitations which we wanna share with you:

  1. These elements are supported: IfcBeam, IfcColumn, IfcCovering, IfcCurtainWall, IfcFurniture,
IfcFurnishingElement, IfcMember, IfcPlate, IfcPile, IfcRailing, IfcRamp, IfcRoof, IfcSlab, IfcStair, IfcStairFlight,
    IfcWall, IfcWallStandardCase, IfcWindow, IfcFlowFitting, IfcFlowSegment

  2. Similar materials are merged together

  3. IfcSpace and IfcGrid elements are removed

  4. IfcMember, IfcWindow, IfcWall, IfcWallStandardCase, IfcColumn, IfcFlowFitting, IfcFlowSegment and IfcPlate elements are merged separately to increase mobile performance

  5. We recommend to export model geometry in lowest possible level of detail. You can learn more on how to optimize models on links bellow: Model preparation Guide , Blender Optimization package (BOP)

Floor recognition

Floor switching is also supported, bellow are couple notes for you on how to pre-organize 3D model to be ready for floor switching:

  1. Floors are automatically recognized by number of immediate children collections under main IfcBuilding/name of your project

    1. Typically those children collections have a "Storey" in the name. Which is floor indicator

      1. Red part is main IfcBuilding parent and Green part are children

        1. BIM parenting.jpg

  2. Everything outside scheme above will not be recognized as floor indicator and it will be moved into the first floor automatically
