When you are adding new beacons to your database, you will see a few options that you can set up, like if the beacon is active, if it is stationary, or set some geofence range.
Title
This field is used to take Beacons ID. This ID is located on the beacon's case and motherboard. We use this ID for easier beacon identifications in the portal.twinzo.eu and Digital Twin app.
MAC Address
Every beacon has this unique address, so our systems can tell the difference between multiple beacons. This MAC address can be obtained by any Bluetooth scanning app like nRF Connect. How to obtain the MAC address of the new/removed beacon can be found here.
Type
This is used just for easier filtering and searching between a lot of different beacon types. It is recommended to set this parameter also. Currently, we have only BLE beacons.
Sector
By setting up this option you will ensure that this beacon will be loaded and ready for placement in the right sector of your factory on the factory blueprints.
Active
The beacon will be used for calculating device location only if the beacon is set as Active.
This setting can be interpreted as if the beacon is turned on or off, but when the beacon is inactive (or off), it is still using some power from the battery. If you want to disable the beacon completely just remove the battery from the beacon.
Use GPS
If the device will connect to the beacon with this setting set to active, the device will try to calculate its location based on the GPS signal rather than beacon triangulation.
Is stationary?
If the beacon isn’t moving and it’s mounted on a fixed place (like a wall) you need to activate this option, so the portal.twinzo.eu will be able to correctly calculate positions and move with the devices rather than the beacons. We recommend calculating device positions with static beacons.
Info |
---|
It is possible to invert the logic of calculating positions not for the devices, but for the beacons. In the app you will see a movement of the beacons and the devices will be static. |
Geofence
If you don’t need the exact position and you don’t have enough beacons, you can enable geofence location. With this setting, the device which will be connected to this beacon will be shown at the beacon location exactly.
Geofence range
Here you need to set the number in dB of how strong the signal needs to be to show the device at this location. -100 dB is closest to the beacon and 0 is furthest from the beacon.
